A class act in the heart of Florence.
Located centrally within Florence, The Savoy which is a member of the the Rocco Forte Collection of international hotels overlooks the Piazza della Repubblica, the square where the Old Market at the heart of Medieval Florence used to take place. Build in 1893, it has 102 luxury rooms and 14 suites with views of pretty terracotta rooftops, the Giotto’s Bell-Tower and the Cathedral Dome by Brunelleschi and the Piazza della Repubblica.
Step outside of the hotel and you are within walking distance to Florence’s retail shopping district, elegant Florentine designer shops, boutiques (Luisa ViaRoma is located right across the street) and eateries. Florence is after-all the home to some of Italy’s most famous designers including Prada, Gucci, Ferragamo and Roberto Cavalli. Other major Florence landmarks that are close include the Duomo, River Arno and the Ponte Vecchio.
The hotel is warm, welcoming and elegant and has have been re-styled by Olga Polizzi, Sir Rocco Forte’s sister to feel like a private home away from home (for the jetsetter amongst us). We love the understated elegance the place emits with its cream light walls, large beds covered with simple unbleached linen, brushed metal fittings that matches the muted toned minimalistic furniture. Other great touches include the international adaptor and the walk-in wardrobe we all want in our own apartment! Paying homage to Florence, city of art and fashion, paintings, photographs and art pieces with the theme ‘Shoes’ and ‘Hats’ decorated the hallways and rooms.
Another thing, if you want some expert assistance with your shopping in Florence, the Savoy can arrange for a Personal Shopper to take you shopping or if you are a big enough spender, bring the collection to your room!
The hotel’s bar and restaurant, ‘L’Incontro’ run by celebrate Chef Fulvio Pierangelini is a popular place to spot Florence’s movers and shakers, and the international jetsetters and hotel guests the like Sophia Lauren, Marciano (Guess), Tommy Hilfiger and Bruce Springsteen if they are in town. Nonetheless, L’Incontro is an ideal place to watch the world go by. Be sure to order a Martini cocktail while you are there, from the Savoy Martini list or the 007 list. Better still, ask for Roberto Prato, the Restaurant and Bar Manager to steer you to the right drink.
