Heading to Seoul soon? We recommend that you check out the cool GLAD Hotel Yeouido. The hotel is designed by award-winning design agency Joh & Company led by creative director and founder Suyong Joh – who is named one of the top 10 Korean designers.
Located on one of Seoul’s largest islands in the centre of the city on the Han River, nicknamed Seoul’s Manhattan where Seoul’s largest banks, tech company, art galleries and shopping is located. GLAD Hotel stands out with its unusual brick pattern façade amongst the surrounding glass buildings. This local brick material lends the hotel the warmth and soul of a traditional South Korean home.
There are 319 rooms spread across eight categories, varying between 23 and 48 square metres in size. Check out the Heritage Ondol room, where time-honoured Korean design gets a modern update while being fitted with underfloor heating, surround sound speakers, a 42-inch Flat Screen LCD TV, a traditional Korean yo bed and two ondol seating areas.
All rooms feature high quality natural materials in the bedding and interiors and we love the quote posters playing on the hotel’s “glad” concept that decorate the room walls.
There are plenty of dining venues at Gald hotel, GREETS restaurant and café serves up a fusion of Korean, Chinese and Japanese cuisine, buffet-style. The hotel’s bar Mark T is a great place for a night cap with the city’s most extensive collection of single malt whiskey and other signature cocktails.
Rates at GLAD Hotel start from KRW155,000/ HK$1108.
