Hotel Le Pavillon De La Reine & Spa is a classic building draped in ivy that was build in 1612 by King Henry IV in the aristocratic quartier of Marais. This charming hotel which was converted from an old private apartment has an unassuming entrance within the shops of Place des Vosges. When you find the entrance amongst the art galleries and boutiques in the area, you enter into a beautifully manicured private garden courtyard and is transported to cosy hideaway in the middle of the chic and arty Marais, one of the oldest quartier in Paris that dates back to the 17th century.
Hotel Le Pavillon De La Reine & Spa has 54 rooms and suites, each one decorated in its own individual style. The hotel is designed by Didier Benerlie of Kerylos Interieurs who had a grand time designing each room individually. What’s consistent is the use of warm colours, use of plush fabrics, period furniture. Staying at Hotel Le Pavillon is like taking a step back in time at this hotel, where the rooms still feature old architectural feature like exposed wood beams and four-poster bed (in some room) and finding your room with their old numbering system can be a challenge. What’s modern about the place is the nice modern bathroom outfitted with everything you expect from a 5 star hotel and the attentive and charming staffs. The hotel is considered 4 star only because it has 1 lift but its truly a 5 star boutique hotel otherwise.
All the rooms are pretty generous in size and features separate bedroom, living room and a gorgeous tiled bathroom in all rooms. The hotel’s one-bedroom suite features a king-size bed, a lounge area, a study are and a traditional style bedroom. If a room with a view is important to you, then check out the hotel’s junior suites that offer a view over the hotel entrance or the private garden.
The hotel is also known for its spa, Spa de la Reine by Carita which comprises of two treatment booths, a gym, Jacuzzi and a steam bath. Treatments offered include aromatherapy, body treatments, classic Swedish massage, facials, Shiatsu and Thai massage.
We love the traditional French breakfast served at their stylish lounge/ library area furnished with art books. In the evening before dinner, have a whisky or wine and relax by the fireplace at the Honesty bar which is decked out leather chairs, original oil painting and antique furniture.
What’s great about this hotel is that its also located near the Victor Hugo Museum and the Picasso Museum so you can nip out for a bit of art and culture or take a ride around the area with one of their bikes made available for quests at no extra charge. The Marais is a great place to stay for its trendy boutiques, galleries, museums, cafes and restaurant.
