TWG Tea Opens in Hong Kong

By Butterboom Writers  /  January 17, 2012

Our very own fancy tea place.

Newcomer TWG Tea, a well designed tea and cakes lounge, has set up their first store in Hong Kong. For those of you who have been to Singapore where the company comes from, TWG Tea is the equivalent of what Cova for coffee lovers.

What TWG Tea does best is its tea, boasting the largest collection in the world, sometimes sourced exclusively from premium plantations. This is clear to see as, barely a month since the launch, it’s managed to breed daily queues outside the first of its kind tea salon and boutique in IFC Mall.

The 1,800 square feet store is a culmination of a luxurious tea-drinking experience involving only the most exotic and finest teas with a setting that’s highly reminiscent of Singapore’s history as a trading port – think rattan-backed black velvet chairs, hand crafted glass walls, antique mirrors and crystal lamps. Inside the boutique sits a hard wood mahogany tea counter displaying over 800 of their signature yellow tins.

With a menu that includes their famous TWG tea jelly and whipped cream on scones, and a boutique that houses enough loose leafs and tea accessories to keep you awake forever, TWG Tea has fast become a go-to spot for fancy tea-drinkers and tai tais alike, and rightfully so. We know the queue can be a little intimidating but, trust us, it’s worth the wait at least once!
