Sotheby’s Hong Kong presents yet another interesting series of its Contemporary Ink Art Autumn Sale, this time themed Contemporary Ink Art: Confluence that is inspired by the fabled Silk Road with ink works from China, Europe, South Asia and Middle East. A public exhibition will be held from 28 September to 1 October 2017 at Hall 1, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, while the auction will take place on 2 October 2017.
Presented for the first time in Hong Kong, the sale features paintings by artists like Hans Hartung, Charles-Hossein Zenderoudi, Krishen Khanna and Isamu Noguchi – all masters known for their use of ink, brush and/or calligraphic principle. There will also be more contemporary pieces by Inoue Yuichi, Tseng Yuho, Li Huayi, Liu Dan, Gu Wenda, Li Jin and Xu Lei.
Highlights:
- Peking Drawing (Mother and Child) by Japanese American sculptor Isamu Noguchi (estimate: HK$600,000 – HK$800,000)
- A Graph of Pleasure and Pain by Krishen Khanna (estimate: HK$240,000 – HK$350,000)
- SEDA+SOBH_SOUD by Charles-Hossein Zenderoudi (estimate: HK$550,000 – HK$800,000)
