Liang Yi Museum will run the Great Minds Think Alike: 18th Century French and Chinese Furniture Design exhibition in celebration of its first anniversary in Spring 2015. The exhibition is a showcase of similarities between the French and the Chinese in their furniture style in the 17th and 18th century, including some exquisite pieces like a Louis XIV brass and ebony two part-cabinet and a rare Louis XVI bamboo table, with European black and golden lacquer tray with chased gilt bronze mounts.
In collaboration with Kraemer Gallery in Paris, the exhibition will open in February 2015. There will also be a lavish, fully illustrated catalogue produced specially for the exhibition with an introduction by Daniel Alcouffe, former Chief Curator of Decorative Arts at The Louvre. And for the first time in Asia, selected French pieces will be available to purchase after the exhibition concludes.
