Le French May Arts Festival is set to present the works by artist Fabienne Verdier, a forerunner in western contemporary art, who has a strong background in Chinese culture. The exhibition titled Crossing Signs will showcase Verdier’s large-scale works at the Hong Kong City Hall from the 13th of May to the 8th of June.
A prize-winning graduate from Toulouse Art School, Fabienne Verdier went to Sichuan to be taught by the Grand Master Calligraphers in 1983. The artist is deeply influenced by Chinese calligraphy, and she created a special system to keep the brush that can hold 60 litres of ink suspended and move freely.
