Hong Kong Fashion Week 2011: Barney Cheng

A Hong Kong designer that needs no introduction.

Barney Cheng is Hong Kong’s biggest designer, in demand and well loved by celebrities and socialites from Hong Kong and across Asia. He has designed red carpet gowns for the likes of Gong Li, Joan Chen, Michelle Yeoh, Maggie Cheung and Maggie Q.  Showcasing his latest collection inspired by the Australian outback, he closed the show for Day 1’s Fashion Extravaganza.


Barney Cheng is a graduate of the Royal college of Art in London and Parson’s School of Design in Paris. He has his own atelier, Yenrabi, and is based in Hong Kong. He has won so many awards and accolades and is considered 1 of the 25 most Influential Chinese in Global Fashion in 2010. His labels include couture, couture-a-porter, daywear and eveningwear.

Signature style

Luxurious and extravagance are the words we would use to describe Barney’s creation. He’s great at amazing intricate beading details, embellishments and using lots of fur.
