Takeshi is the New Armani Face

First Asian face for Armani’s Autumn/Winter 2008-9 campaign.

Takeshi Kaneshiro (金城 武) will be the first Asian model to appear on the Giorgio Armani brand for this campaign promoting the Autumn/Winter collections:

“I have always been a great admirer of Giorgio Armani, not only for his remarkable accomplishment as master of style but I very much respect his enduring support of the film industry,” says Kaneshiro, who has appeared in over 30 films.

“I am excited to collaborate with Takeshi on this new advertising campaign. He is a film and style icon in Asia where his fame transcends cultures both East and West. His sense of effortless style is very contemporary and sophisticated and together with his good look makes him the ideal testimonial for Emporio Armani,” adds Giorgio Armani of the autumn/winter 2008-9 campaign.

With his new John Woo-directed movie Red Cliff out in theatres now, and Time magazine calling him “the Johnny Depp of Asia” its good news for him.

And of course with every Western brand trying to break into China, its good to see our local faces getting more exposure. But our question is when they run out of A-list Hong Kong stars will Edison then have a chance in the spotlight again?
