Salvatore Ferragamo was born into a family with 14 siblings and his fascination with shoes began after making his first pair of shoes at 9 years old for his sister. Ferragamo went to Naples to study shoemaking and after his studies, he moved to Hollywood with his brothers to open a shoe shop. Ferragamo found success with his store, offering a repair service and custom made shoes. His custom made shoes garnered the attention of Hollywood celebrities and soon he was designing shoes for Hollywood stars, including Marilyn Monroe in the late 102o’s.
