
Hubert de Givenchy was born to a French aristocratic family, who supported his work in fashion. Encouraged to attend art school, Hubert’s discovered his passion for fashion and after school, went on to intern for several fashion designers before opening his first couture store in 1952.
His feminine and simple designs was a hit with stars of that era like as Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor. Givenchy most famous creation is the iconic little black dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
In 1988, Givenchy sold his label to LVMH – the world’s largest luxury group and his label has gone from strength to strength. In 2005, Riccardo Tisci joined as creative director, adding a gothic touch to the fashion house. Today, the brand is increasinly popular for feminine designs with a dark edge.
Givenchy currently offers men’s and women’s clothing, bags, shoes and accessories.
