French jewellery and watch company, Cartier, was founded in Paris in 1847. Taking on his master’s workshop, Louis-François Cartier created the foundations for the brand which his grandsons Pierre and Jacques brought to worldwide fame.
Dubbed The Jeweller of Kings and the King of Jewellers that was issued a royal warrant by King Edward VII of England, Cartier has created tiaras and jewellery for royalty, high profile individuals and celebrities around the world, including the Maharajas of India. Cartier is also notably famous for their creation of the first practical wristwatch – the Santos – with a flatter, more functional and practical design.
Now a member of the Swiss-based luxury goods family, Richemont, Cartier offers not only watches and jewellery, but has expended its range to include a selection of large and small leather goods, bags, eyewear, accessories and fragrances.
Cartier products can be found at their standalone boutiques as well as at various chain and independent jewellers, watch and eyewear retailers located throughout the city.
