Luxury fashion house Bottega Veneta was founded in 1966 by Michele Taddei and famed for their woven leather bags and accessories.
Bottega Veneta began as a company producing leather goods using a leather-weaving technique that still remains the brands signature today. However, overtime Bottega Veneta became more trend driven rather than focusing on creating their highly crafted leather goods until Tomas Maier joined in 2001. Maier revitalised the brand back to its original identity, removing any visible logos on products and focused on the leather weave, starting the understated luxury movement that many luxury brands now adopt. Maier also introduced the Cabat, a logoless bag with a leather weave in his first season which remains the company’s best selling bag.
Maier has succesfully reinvented Bottega Veneta with a firm place in the luxury market.
