
New York designer Alexander Wang is one of the most successful emerging designers to graduate from the CDFA Fashion Fund. A student at Parsons School of Design, Alexander Wang dropped out at the age of 19 to launch his own label.
His first collection, a knitwear line based on six unisex silhouettes gained widespread media attention catching the eye of Anna Wintour, famous U.S Vogue Editor. He won the Vogue/ CDFA Fashion Fund Award in 2008 and went on to expand his label. His easy to wear laid back downtown look, a mashup of street culture and high fashion made with quality fabric won many fans include Kate Moss and Rhianna. Today Alexander Wang’s easy-to-wear pieces are hugely popular with the fashion insiders as well as the stylish set weather in New York, London or Hong Kong.
Alexander Wang Inc is a successful family business, with Wang heading up the design department as Creative Director, his brother in charge of finance and his sister in law as the principal officer. A successful label which has expanded beyond his knitwear line, to include a menswear and womenswear line, bags, shoes and accessories. His diffusion line, T by Alexander Wang launched in 2009 is hugely popular and has a more accessible entry price point.
