Founded in 1992, British luxury fashion house Alexander McQueen was founded by Lee Alexander McQueen. Awarded British Designer of the Year in 1996, 1997, 2001, and 2003, McQueen began his journey from a young age, making dresses for his three sisters. Leaving school at the age of 16, he served an apprenticeship on the famous Saville Row, where he acquired the foundations in tailoring that would be a key part of his signature.
Following other experiences, including with a theatrical costumier’s, he applied for a pattern-cutting tutor position at Central Saint Martins, where he was instead persuaded to study. This allowed him to enter the path of becoming a designer, taking on the role of head designer at Givenchy in 1996.
Following the later establishment of his brand, and then his death in 2010, the brand is currently under the reigns of creative director Sarah Burton.
The Alexander McQueen brand covers womenswear and menswear products, spanning from the impeccably tailored ready-to-wear collections, shoes, bags and leather goods, accessories, jewellery, eyewear, and scarves.
