Shoe heaven in the heart of Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a mecca for shoppers, boasting high-end, luxury designers, high-street stores and independent boutiques all rubbing shoulders in any one of the city’s retail hubs. At the very heart of the matter lies Central, home to Hong Kong’s biggest and best department stores, the ultimate destination for convenient, beautifully curated multi-brand shopping, all under one roof.
We all know that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but here at Butterboom we like to think that shoes aren’t far off. Here’s our guide to multi-brand shoe shopping in Central for those of you that are pushed for time or simply don’t want to traipse around in the stifling humidity of Hong Kong’s summer…
Hong Kong’s premier department store first opened its doors way back in 1850. It has since undergone several changes, transforming into the fashion and lifestyle speciality store that we know and love today. Conveniently located on the third floor of Central’s IFC Mall, Lane Crawford constantly strives to be at the forefront of fashion curation and design, and it’s footwear section is no exception. Stocking a range of designers, from stalwarts of the shoe community such as Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Sergio Rossi, to some of the more exciting, emerging brands, including Nicholas Kirkwood and Opening Ceremony, they are bound to cater to your feet-fancies.

Just a hop, skip and a jump from Lane Crawford and right outside Central’s MTR station in Central Building, you’ll find the aptly named Central/Central. This sizeable store is not your average multi-brand boutique, instead offering several designers a designated retail space to showcase the full gamut of their products. Official franchisees for the likes of Steve Madden and Betsey Jonson, Central/Central also plays home to Anne Klein, Carollina Espinosa and EQ:IQ amongst others. Whether you’re looking for whimsy or something more classic, you’ll be able to find it in this stylish shopping space.

Harvey Nichols, otherwise known as one of London’s most upmarket fashion destinations, first opened its doors in Hong Kong in 2005. Located in the Landmark, home to numerous prestigious fashion brands, Harvey Nichols lives up to its high-end reputation carrying some of the biggest names in footwear. Manolo Blahnik and Lanvin represent the market leaders, while fashion forward footwear is delivered by the likes of Beverly Feldman and Be & D, whose vibrant prints and colours are guaranteed to inject some fun into your wardrobe.

On Pedder at Joyce
Cross Queen’s Road Central from Harvey Nichols and you’ll find yourself at On Pedder. Situated inside Joyce, Hong Kong’s first fashion retailer to introduce lesser-known international designers to the buying public, On Pedder has earned the well-deserved reputation as one of Asia’s foremost sources of emerging or design-led shoes from around the globe. It’s here that you’ll find brands before they pop up anywhere else and make their way into the more mainstream boutiques, including current industry favourites Nicholas Kirkwood and Sophia Webster. You will, of course, also find better known designers famed for their fashion forward approach such as Alexander Wang, Comme des Garcons and Valentino.
