When one thinks of summer, images of flowers, the beach and maybe even a party come to mind. Not for Marc Jacobs whose Spring Summer 15 offering was undeniably stoic and serious.
This is not to say that the collection does not make an impact. Between the cut out detailing, intricate ties and carefully chosen colour palette, its a stand out offering and one that walks to a different beat when compared to the frou frou generally associated with the season.
The collection sees a palette of khaki, camouflage green and dashes of navy blue. All the nuances of beige make an appearance and play to the militaristic theme. The clothes themselves, with flak and combat jackets and fatigue pants and backpacks are not far behind. Ever the innovator, Jacobs injects just a hint of an anti-war protest by transforming all these uniform reminiscent fabrics into clothes that are perky and feminine. Pouf skirts and 60’s shift dresses rein supreme and soften what is a hard collection at its essence. The cartoonish scale pockets are the cherry on top of what is a undeniably an unforgettable collection.Where?
