Maison Margiela F/W 15

It hasn’t taken long for John Galliano to find his feet as Creative Director at Maison Margiela. The latest AW 15 show was testament to this. Having found a middle ground between the extroverted Galliano woman and the fashionable Margiela customer, the collection brims with edgy wearable pieces.

The collection featured a diverse pallet of fall shades -browns, black, maroon and beige- but what stood out the most was the expressions of tartan. A definite throwback to Galliano’s own past collections, it added a rebellious and youthful injection to what could have been a somber affair. Satin, lace and bursts of neon only added to the ‘girl gone rogue’ aesthetic.

What it lacked in coherence, it made up for in extroverted energy, but it must be said that this is a collection definitely designed for the brave. In true Galliano fashion the final touches transports it from ready to wear to extreme style, but then again, it wouldn’t be Galliano or Margiela without a little bit of controversy. Fur covered heels and bright orange dishwashing gloves anyone? All we can say is get ready to turn more than a few heads. We are coveting that long beige coat…
