Van Cleef & Arpels will be running a series of Jewellery and Watchmaking classes in Hong Kong in October with teachers flown in from L’ÉCOLE Van Cleef & Arpels.
L’ÉCOLE Van Cleef & Arpels is the jewellery house’s Paris-based school for jewellery and watchmaking set up to provide classes aimed at those interested to learn about the cultural and historical aspects, as well as the technics employed in their jewellery and watchmaking. The courses will be taught by a staff of art historians, virtuoso craftsmen, experienced jewellers, gemologists and master watchmakers.
Courses will run for two weeks, from 16 October to 1 November 2014 and will take place at Hong Kong’s PMQ centre. There will be a selection of 10 courses across three major themes: History of Art, The Universe of Gemstones and Savoir Faire. Students will be able to choose what they are interested to learn from these courses which varies from learning about the symbolic meanings of gemstones, to recognizing gemstones, what goes into creating a piece of jewellery to learning about some of the famous jewellery techniques like the ‘invisible stone setting’ and lots more.
