Designer Spotlight: Sarah Besnainou of Eternamé

Sarah Besnainou, Etername
By Butterboom Writers  /  November 7, 2013

With fans like Kylie Minogue, Scarlett Johansson and Diane Kruger, Sarah Besnainou is making a mark in jewellery with Etarnamé. What’s interesting about Besnainou is that she started off her career in the jewellery department of  Dior. Her jewellery making stint only came about when she wanted to get some cuffings for her boyfriend and could not find a pair that she liked.  So she decided to design them herself. When friends and family started noticing and asking to buy her pieces she decided to take the plunge, enrolled herself to become a certified gemologist with a diploma from the Gemological Institute of America and  started her own fine jewellery brand in 2007.

The word “Etarnamé” means “make me eternal”. Etarnamé design is feminine, modern and personal. Besnainou uses  materials like titanium, ebony, enamel, emeralds, diamonds, and the designer’s own favourite, tanzanite. The Parisienne brand features a range of designs for three lines: Pret-a-porter, which is a seasonal collection of special semi-precious and precious stones designs; Couture, where creative designs are combined with interesting materials; and Haute-Couture, a collection of custom-made creations personally designed per client and via special orders only.
