The American Idol 2008 Winner is…

By Butterboom Writers  /  May 22, 2008

C’mon, like you don’t know already.

Even though American Idol Season 7 is running right now in Hong Kong on Star World, alebit a few episodes behind its airdates in the US, we’re going to spoil the last few episodes for you because its all over the web now and will be in all Hong Kong newspapers in the morning.

We want to preface this with the fact that we have never watched this show before, but something about a few of the contestants (like Michael Johns) roped us in to watch it, and the amazing vocal talents in what we wrote-off as a cheesy singing contest became must view television for the Butterboom team.

And so without further ado, the winner of American Idol Season 7 is….

From the Associated Press:

For an “American Idol” season so flat and lifeless, the end sure rocked: Ex-bartender David Cook virtually body-slammed teen prodigy David Archuleta in a surprising landslide Wednesday night, capping an energized finale filled with big stars and polished performances.

We don’t think this news will stop you from watching the rest of the episodes, because it’s just so much fun. Congrats to David Cook who we were rooting for since his amazing rendition of “Hello” by Lionel Richie, over 3 months back.

We plucked these 3 perfromances as our 3 favorite from David Cook for you to see what all the hubbub is about:

Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean:

Mariah Carey’s Always be my Baby (yes, best version of this song ever.):

Switchfoot’s Dare You to Move:

We’ll definitely tune in January 2009 for American Idol Season 8.
