For The Row SS14, designers Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen chose a very different aesthetic to what they showed last season, saying goodbye to the townhouse lounging / ladies-who-lunch styles and hello to a woman full of exotic adventure and bohemian spirit. Spring/summer 2014, is draped in rustic tones and easy layers that speak of a nomadic existence. In true Olsen style, the look is kept up-to-date with modern silhouettes and quirky styling details.
Part girl-on-safari and part Tuareg warrior, with a little bit of 1920’s flapper thrown in, this collection is a wild and free addition to the fashion design repertoire.
Key Trends For Spring…
The Row showed some trends that will be hot this spring.
Loafers
Seen on almost all of the models, and on many a fashionistas feet, loafers are a style staple and a key shoe trend for this season. As seen on the runway, worn with a delicate dress or skirt they add a masculine feel while still keeping the look polished. Worn with a pair of slacks and you have a look that is both relaxed and chic.
Wide Pants
The Row was a celebration of relaxed silhouettes and easy tailoring. Looks that really stood out featured wide legged pants and long tunic tops. We love this casual yet sophisticated look.
The Tunic Top
Bucking the crop top craze of late, the show featured longer length tunic tops, dresses and even a kaftan. Styled with loose pants, maxi skirts and sling bags, this look is about layers.
