Chanel’s head designer directs a film to mark 100 years of the fashion house.
To celebrate Chanel‘s 100th anniversary, Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld is to direct a short film about the early life of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, the house’s founder. British actress and the current face of the Coco Mademoiselle perfume, Keira Knightley, has been personally selected by Lagerfeld to portray the young Chanel.
The film, which starts shooting this week, will be set in the chic seaside town of Deauville, the location of Chanel’s first boutique and where everything started for the world famous French fashion house.
Joining Knightley, who Lagerfeld recently described as one of his muses, will be models Stella Tennant and Brad Kroenig and actors Tallulah Harlech and Clotilde Hesme. The film will be screened at Chanel’s Cruise Show in Singapore in May.
