‘In Mid Air’ Infiltrates Tin Hau

Sound works exhibition debuts this Saturday.

Here is something interesting to see on Saturday night – and a new venue to check out in Tin Hau of all places. KAPOK gallery is showcasing in mid air sounds works hk 2007 featuring 7 international “sound artists” from the Netherlands, Hong Kong, France, USA, Luxembourg and Australia with special installations that will debut with all in attendance on Saturday, June 16 at 6pm (that’s tomorrow night) – its free and easy to get to from Tin Hau MTR. We won’t try and explain it so we’ll let Kapok explain:

in midair derives its title from the artists- specifically from Su-Mei Tse’s air-conditioned solo exhibition presented in the 2003 50th Venice Biennale, and Felix Hess’ book Light as Air, and generally, from the way all the sound artists in this exhibition are working with air and its movements to give shape and breathing room for sound. When noise abatement fails, it is time to recover the joy and depth of listening.

It runs from June 16 to July 15th at the Kapok gallery on 9 Dragon Road (behind the Tin Hau Temple – a new hotspot to be discovered?) email them here or call them at 2549 9254 for more info.
