HTW: Happenings This Week, 4 – 11 December

At Butterboom, we’ve rounded up some of the best events happening this week to keep you busy over the weekend and coming week. Dine under the stars at Diner en Blanc or watch a theater performance at the Secret Theatre Project. Udderbelly kicked off a their 3 months long line-up of performances this week at Central Harbour, there’s Christmas markets and a new bar to visit.  Her’s our pick of events for an action packed week of fun ahead. 
French Film Festival
Every year, the Alliance Française de Hong Kong bringing the latest and the very best of French Cinema to Hong Kong with the French Film Festival. Starting from 18 November – 10 December, you can watch different French films in different cinemas located around Hong Kong and we’ve selected some of our favourites this week; Melody, an award winning  film based on surrogate mothers and Réalité, a film about a filmmaker who loses his grip on reality as he experiences absurd dreams.

New to the Hong Kong bar scene is Foxglove, a 1950s inspired  bar that serves a range of alcohol like Japanese whiskies, rare brandies and classic cocktails like the Sazerac from the 1930s- 1950s era. Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, there’s a live jazz band.

Secret Theatre Project
The Secret Theatre Project is performing in Hong Kong for the first time. The Secret Theatre Project is a theatre style production where audience is immersed into the play. Instead of watching, the audience are put in performance spaces where they can explore the set and follow the actors around. Before the show starts, attendees are given a password and instructions to the venue and a dress code after purchasing a ticket- it is a secret project after all. 
Date: 2 – 13 December

 is a festival featuring an international cast of artists from UK, Australia and Hong Kong performing music gigs, family shows, comedy, cabaret and circus acts. Check out the circus performance: “A Simple Space” by Gravity & Other Myths, an award winning Australian acrobatics team.

A Fashionable Apero
A Fashionable Apero is a pop-up fashion event at Mahalo Tiki Bar, QRE Plaza in Wan Chai.  Expect to see a range of fashion and beauty products from local designers like eco-friendly fashion label from The Dot, chic jewellery from Taara, graphical dresses from Maisha Concept and handmade eco-friendly skincare products from Bathe To Basics. Enjoy cocktails at discounted prices, complimentary canapés and their awesome DJ will be spinning tunes.

Le Dîner en Blanc
One of the most anticipated outdoor dinner parties of the year is Le Dîner en Blanc. Hosted each year in all the major cities like New York, London and for the first time-  Hong Kong!  The event translates into “White Dinner” meaning it’s a white themed dinner party where guests dress in white and the venue is covered in white decor,  The location is kept a secret, so guests will meet at a meeting point and escorted to the secret location. 
Date: 5 December
Time: 5.30pm – 11.30pm
Location: Secret location where guests find out on the day.
Price: HK$368 (tickets admit 2) but there’s waiting list for non-members of Le Diner en Blanc
Gough Street Christmas Market
Gough Street has teamed up with local boutiques and restaurant for an weekend of festivities for Gough Street Christmas Market. The market is set to take place on Gough Street, Mei Lung Street and Shing Hing Street on 5 – 6 December. Some of the participating stores and restaurants include La Cabane a Vin, Muchies, Sheer and Timothy Oulton.
