Jouer – translation – “to play” in French – was the theme of the recent grand opening of Jouer Patisserie in Sau Wa Fong, Wanchai. Founded by executive chef, Anne Cheung, the 800-sq ft space is dedicated to her passion for creating unique French pastries and presenting them in playful, exciting ways. The front space is a gallery-like space displaying a feast of exquisite macaroon gift boxes, stylish tableware and home décor, as well as vintage accessories. The open pastry bar facing the outdoor patio and ‘French Garden’ inspires the creative lifestyle Jouer promotes.
The new atelier is not just a workspace, but also a playground where one can merge “art and lifestyle” with “food and beverage” – a theme the opening celebrated with carefully themed canapé’s that echoed the creative philosophy behind the brand, paired with sumptuous drinks from Perrier-Jouët and DQ Vodka.
Jouer Patisserie’s signature products are the mini French macaroons made in innovative flavours inspired by her French culinary training and Asian roots. Adventurous flavours include Chinese Vinegar and Ginger, Mango Pomelo, Tom Yum and HK-style Milk Tea.
