A contemporary take on classic elegance.
Inspired by purity, neoclassicism and Parisian couture, Riccardo Tisci, Creative Director at Givenchy confronts the 1960s with his Pure and Light spring/summer collection for 2013. In doing so he combines looks from the Hubert de Givenchy archives with clothing inspired by a nun’s habit and shoes informed by the volume-defying works of furniture designer Carlo Mollino. The result: a modern, wearable take on standard elegance.
The collection’s silhouettes are tight and feminine, and palette largely black and white with penetrating touches of beige and sky-blue . As for materials, Tisci went out of his way to use fabrics associated with 1960s haute couture. Chiffon, crepes, taffetas and organza combine to create a stunning allure.
