A casual, easy-going finish to a classic Chanel bag.
For Spring Summer 2013, Karl Lagerfeld kept things carefree and elegant at Chanel, and that attitude has filtered down into the accessories. Take a look at the Denim Boy bag, an updated version of a shape we first saw a few seasons back; boxy and androgynous, it was inspired by a cartridge bag carried by Coco Chanel herself and now sees a contemporary denim finish applied.
The shoulder bag features Chanel’s signature quilting in contrasting white stitching on the fold-over front flap and back, finished off with a thick trim and a heavy-duty gunmetal double C clasp. The adjustable chain strap flashes cobalt blue leather inserts and is completely detachable, allowing you to carry the bag as a clutch, which is totally possible given the size of the bag; a modest 25cm long by 14cm high.
Inside it’s lined in familiar burgundy with a hidden zip-pocket and a small compartment helping to keep everything in its right place. The reverse of the front-flap pops in the same cobalt as the strap, adding to the fact that this is an eye-catching bag however you look at it. This is quite possibly as casual as a Chanel handbag can get; wear it for a day out shopping or a laid-back rooftop drink.
