Gucci’s New Bamboo Bag

By Butterboom Writers  /  April 8, 2010

An old classic gets a reinvention.

Gucci’s Bamboo bag has always been one of their staples which made its debut in 1947 when the house was forced to use unusual materials for their wares due to wartime shortage. Its pigskin make and curved bamboo handle have certainly appealed to many of us throughout the years and, for Spring/Summer 2010, head designer Frida Giannini has added a few updates to this old favorite.

Although some details remain the same like the size, recognizable 2 front pockets and interior mirror, some new additions include switching top stitching for leather borders, a second strap and nickel for hardware. The old pigskin has been transformed with a stoned effect to give it a sleek grey colour and a new material, called Cellarius, is a soft grained calfskin. The bag also comes in black python skin.
