As if we need more reasons to shop on Amazon, the online retailer has now launched a fashion collection of its own to sell alongside the other fab items you can find on the site. With their own brands launch actually not their first, there were 8 brands that they launched last year, catering to different demographics available only on Prime), Amazon looks set to take over the fast fashion category going up against fast fast giants like Zara, H&M, Uniqlo that are slow to optimise their online platform.
The new line is called Find and it is a massive 500-piece Fall/Winter womenswear collection and a 200-piece menswear line. Find’s fashion campaign is already making an impact on Instagram and Facebook, and the verdict? Success! The collection taps on fast- fashion pros like Frances Russell (vice president of Amazon’s own label and former Marks & Spencer head of womenswear), designer Karen Peacock and Glen George (former buyer for Primark) to design a collection that will fly through the world’s second biggest online marketplace. With Amazon’s customer data mining and years of shopping purchases information on their platform, you can be sure that they know what’s hot in fashion.
Then there is the new Amazon Echo Look camera that works alongside Alexa, Amazon’s voice-controlled assistant. With Echo, you can take fashion selfies of yourself with their mobile app which will then show you similar clothing items that you can buy from Amazon – not necessary just from Find but across the entire site. How’s that for a one-stop online mall?
Unfortunately, Find is currently available only in the UK, France, Italy, Spain and Germany while Echo Look’s reach is just as limited for now, not in Hong Kong yet. But we’re reporting this to let you know what’s to come from Amazon in the fashion space.
