Beauty Buys: Top 5 Self-Tanners

By Butterboom Writers  /  August 21, 2013

Your cheat sheet to the holiday tan.

We are one for beauty shortcuts (anything that can save us time and offer the same results, for that matter). So we feel no shame in cheating our way to beautiful sun-kissed skin with self-tanning products. Well, nobody has to know you fake it anyway. The point is, you’d look great in summer dresses with that safe tan.

Some precautions and tips for the first-timer:

1) Prep your skin by exfoliating the night before for a more even and longer-lasting tan.

2) Apply before bedtime to allow the colour to develop fully overnight.

3) Use gloves or mitts to avoid orange palms.

4) Go easy along the hairline and eyebrows and gently wipe kneecaps, elbows, heels, tops of toes lest you get dark streaks and blotches.

5) Wash hands and nails thoroughly after application and

6) Wait for it to dry completely before dressing to prevent staining your clothes.

Here’s a roundup of our top 5 self-tanners that give you the natural-looking, sunless tan.
