Free PC-to-Phone Calls to China

Closer to home than Skype. And cheaper.

If you follow this blog I’m sure you know how to use Skype to make long distance calls on your PC, but did you know that recently Skype is charging a connection fee on all SkypeOut calls? Have a look at Hong Kong-based ZoiPPE (no I don’t know how to pronounce it either. Zoe-Pee? Zo-IP-pee?) who are offering free mobile and landline calls to China until February 28.

Normal long distance calls are US2 cents a minute which is about the same as Skype charges but it includes a US5 cents connection fee per call – which is not a lot, but this move on Skype’s part allows for smaller, lower-overhead companies to swoop in and take a piece of the pie especially in local markets and the potentailly huge Hong Kong to China market.

End of the day free calls to friends and family in China for the rest of the month is what we’re all about!
