How does growing your own indoor garden with as little effort as possible sound? Even if you couldn’t keep a cactus alive, Click & Grow offers tech that promises to keep your plants alive and well indoors. Founded in 2009 by Mattias Lepp, Click & Grow caused a buzz in the tech scene when it was launched on Kickstarter in 2015.
How does it work?
The easy-to-use system uses a natural, NASA-inspired technology to help plants grow faster with no harmful substances. The system uses ‘smart’ soil, which releases nutrients while tiny oxygen pockets let plants breathe. There is a built in LED lamps and the system is equipped with sensors to monitor the plants’ need for light, water and nutrients. The lamp will come on for a few minutes intervals each time and turns off by itself, this provides just enough light for your plant to grow.
The system is easy to set up, all you have to do is plug the device in and add water once every three weeks. The water goes into a holding area that is separate from the pots of soil where your plant is growing, enabling soil to stay moist and wet for much longer. Provided you do that, you’ll get fully grown flowers or herbs in about five to six weeks (depending on what you are planting) with pretty much zero effort. It took us 5 weeks to grow the basils.
