If fertility tracking apps are all about being pink, fluffy and all things pretty, then that’s where the new application Clue is different. Available from the iOS App Store, Clue is not pink nor cutesy; in fact, its design looks so cool and chic that you won’t have to hide it somewhere between Words for Friends and Evernote so that no one will notice you’ve got a fertility tracking app on your phone screen.
Since its launch, Clue has become extremely popular in Asia, which is home to about 15 per cent of its global user base. Not bad for an app that was developed in Germany. What makes it a success? Its simple-to-navigate and use interface. First, all you have to do is key in the start date of your last period and a few questions later, the app will show you when your next period is due to start. The longer you use it by feeding it with more accurate data, the smarter and more predictive it becomes. There is also a fertile period reminder if you are planning to start a family. You can also allow push notifications to remind yourself a day before your period arrives so that you don’t get caught off-guard. And there is the option of using Clue like a diary to keep note on your mood, pains, periods, and sexual activity with easy pre-entered answers for faster data input.
