If you are a photographer who’s passionate about your craft, then listen up. The 2015 Sony World Photography Awards, organised by the World Photography Organisation, are now open for entries. Seeking the very best in the international contemporary photography, the Awards have established themselves as one of the world’s leading photography competitions.The competition includes several categories, such as; Professional, judged on a series of work; Open, judged on a single image; Youth, for photographers under 20; and Student Focus, for higher education photography students between 18 and 30 years old.
The winner of the Photographer of the Year title and the Open Photographer of the Year will both receive cash prizes. All category winners will receive the latest digital imaging equipment from Sony, and the Student Focus winner will receive a range of new, cutting-edge Sony’s digital imaging equipment for his or her university.
The competition has been immensely successful thus far, with a record 140,000 photos submitted in last years competition. Since its launch in 2007, the World Photography Organisation has registered over 700,000 images from all over the world, which have been submitted for the Sony World Photography Awards. Overall winners will be announced at a gala ceremony held in London on April 23rd, 2015, and will also have their work published in the 2015 edition of the Sony World Photography Awards book and exhibited at Somerset House, in London. 2014’s competition included a wide range of topics, from child pageants to hard hitting topics such as domestic violence. So, whether you are a professional, or just love taking snaps of the family pet, this is the competition for you.

The Open and Youth competitions will close for entries at 23:59 GMT on Monday, January 5, 2015. The Professional competition, will close at 23:59 GMT on Thursday, January 8, 2015. Entries to the Student Focus competition will close at 23:59 GMT on December 6, 2014.
