Check out postmodernist artist Sherrie Levine’s solo exhibition at Simon Lee Gallery that will take place from 23 November to 3 January 2015. The 1980s Postmodernism Movement artist is a central figure in the scene known for her series of photographs titled “After Walker Evans”, which is a reproduction of Depression-era photographs by Walker Evans. Sherrie’s work is considered central examples in the theory of postmodernism.
In her solo exhibition, Levine presents sculptures from a series of casted bronze objects. These items are created by the artist with the intention to provoke thoughts on how the market turns spiritually meaningful artworks into luxury commodities. Great observation!
