Merlin Carpenter’s Decade Exhibition

By Butterboom Writers  /  October 13, 2014

English visual artist, Merlin Carpenter, is exhibiting his Decade exhibition at the Simon Lee Gallery from October 11 to November 15. For the uninitiated, Merlin’s work seems to resemble Andy Warhol’s style, however, this is what Carpenter sets out to achieve, asking for another level of observation creating art that is about his journey and process of opposition and exchange with other artists, critics, and curators, and critiques the condition of contemporary art-making.

Decades explores the over styled imagery of fashion, celebrity photography and highlights the relationship between cultural reception and consumption.

Merlin graduated from the Saint Martins School of Art in 1989, and has exhibited in over 77 exhibitions since graduating.

  • Dates: 11 October – 15 November, 2014
  • Venue: Simon Lee Gallery, 304 Pedder Building, 12 Pedder Street, Central, Hong Kong.
