Its art month in Hong Kong and new art gallery, The Leo Gallery is celebrating its opening with two exciting exhibitions. From the 10th of March till 22nd of April the Leo Gallery in Sheung Wan will play host to “Microscope: The Inner Mindscape of 5 Contemporary Chinese Artists”. A solo exhibition of contemporary Chinese artist Jian-Jun Zhang themed “Nature and Beyond” will also be presented by the Leo Gallery at Art Basel.
Microscope is a varied and compelling showcase that features works of contemporary Chinese artists of different ages and experiences. The artists, Gao Weigang, Ren Zhitian, Li Yiwen, Lin Ke and Hu Weiyi, will each display their individual aesthetic and philosophy through diverse works in different mediums, including painting, sculpture, installation, moving images and mixed media artworks. The exhibition is curated by renowned independent curator and art critic from Beijing, Huang Du.
Nature and Beyond celebrates Chinese artist Jian-Jun Zhang’s work. Having cut his teeth as the Assistant Curator and Art Research Director of Shanghai Art Museum from 1986 to 1989 before moving to the United States, Zhang has garnered an international reputation as one of the regions most prominent artists. Zhang has been exploring the imagery of water with the fascination of capturing the image of eternity in an exciting and dynamic way. This exhibition showcases the artworks that led from this exploration.
