It’s time for Art ! March is officially Art Month in Hong Kong and there’s plenty to keep you occupied and entertained. With hundreds of exhibitions happening in the key area of  Central, Central, Wanchai, Admiralty and Wong Chuk Hang, art lovers will be spoilt for choices on which event they should check out. Here are our top picks.

Art Basel Hong Kong
The grandaddy of art shows, Art Basel opes on the 29th of March, day before Easter this year in Hong Kong. With 248 galleries participating from 32 countries, the sixth edition of Art Basel Hong Kong is a major attraction not just for local art fans but also serious art collectors and lovers from all around the world. All forms of art will be on display, from large-scale installations to sculptures and more. Check out the film series curated by Li Zhenhua of Beijing Art Lab, new addition Middle Eastern and Indian art, panel discussions and talks from the who’s who of the art world.

Art Central
If you’re interested to find out more about up and coming artists from galleries all over Asia, make your way to this year’s fourth edition of Art Central. There will be over 100 leading international galleries taking part featuring works from contemporary artists. Join in too on other events like talks and panel discussions, hands-on art workshops for kids and adults, on-site performance art activities and food from Hong Kong’s cool eateries with their kiosks at the fair.

Art Gallery Night and Art Brunch
The Hong Kong Art Gallery Association is organising its popular Art Gallery Night and Art Brunch events during Art Month. Participating galleries will be opened till later and host special events including performances, artist talks and live music bands. Enjoy unique art exhibitions and mingling with like-minded art fans at this free event.

Asia Contemporary Art Show
This bi-annual art show is back this year, featuring over 80 galleries from across Asia with great works for you to pick up for your space. Head over to Conrad Hotel and browse through the exhibition rooms and galleries to discover new artists. This event is popular with budding art collectors because art works start at an affordable HK$10,000 and goes up to the hundreds of thousand for famous artists. Among up and coming artists that will present their work include Park Jin-Sung from South Korea, Laura Jordan from the UK, Takahiro Kano from Japan, Valerie Wong from Hong Kong and lots more.

HK Walls
Art on the street? Sure! Its a big thing in Hong Kong if you have ever seen the hoards of tourists posing next to many of our art murals around Central. HK Walls is an annual street-art festival that brings together local and international artists to showcase their work in a unique manner. Happening in Wong Chuk Hang, there will be public mural paintings, screenings and a face-off battle between street artists. Watch out for artists like Wong Ting-Fung, Mauy Cola, Taka, Messy Desk and Abdulrashade. This is definitely a different experience from your usual art galleries!
