Globe to Globe Hamlet to Play in Hong Kong, 4-8 September

Theatre company Shakespeare’s Globe returns to Hong Kong for the third time with Globe to Globe Hamlet, a new production of the classic tale. There will be five shows in total, from 4 September to 6 September 2015 at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ Lyric Theatre. The play will be directed by Shakespeare’s Globe Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole and Bill Buckhurst.

Dromgoole’s version of this classic uses only 12 actors over two dozen parts performing on a stripped-down stage. It is in the middle of a global tour that will visit all 205 nations in the world over the course of two years. The role of Hamlet is shared by Ladi Emeruwa and Naeem Hayat. Jennifer Leong, daughter of Hong Kong’s Legislative Council member Alan Leong Ka-Kit will be performing as well.
