The Cabinet de Curiosités is an exhibition on French craftsmanship and expertise. The exhibition is part of the Le French May festival to highlight their Living Heritage Company label or “Entreprise du patrimoine vivant” (EPV) where the French government set up in 2006 to recognise excellent artisanal and industrial expertise by selecting 9 of the most extraordinary brands to spotlight each year.
The Cabinet de Curiosités allows visitors to discover a selection of products by Chaudrolux, Coquet, Gerbe, Hotel du Palais, Ornalys, Jean Rousseau, Picto, Sophie Hallette (the designer responsible for the lace on Princess Kate Middleton’s wedding gown) and Waskoll.
To provide an atmosphere of a “cabinet of curiosities”, all the exhibits will be deliberately mixed together. The use of light and shadow is in order to accentuate the form of each object. The exhibition welcomes art lovers, collectors, craft professionals and the general public, to witness the excellence of know-how, talk to the creators and discover their works.
