Hong Kong Fashion Week designer spotlight.

This week, Butterboom will be showcasing designers featured in Hong Kong’s Fashion Week held early this week. At last night’s Hong Kong Fashion Extragavanza, Toyko-born designer Keita Maruyama showed off his romantically beautiful collection.

A graduate of Bunka Fashion College in 1987, Keita started his career in fashion in a Japanese apparel company. He only started his own brand Keita Maruyama Tokyo Paris in 1994 with a debut collection for men and women before opening a store in Paris. More recently, in 2009 he launched a wedding dress collection and casual line called Dress Dress Keita Maruyama.

Design sensibility

Keita Maruyama believes that fashion should be romantic. He creates sophisticated, feminine and colourful dresses to make women feel gorgeous. We love this guy! He’s big on prints.

Signature style

Keita does great modern interpretations of romantic dresses, with prints of seasonal flowers that decorate the traditional Japanese kimono.
