Hong-Kong born Vanessa Tao – the creative force behind Vanessa Tao designs – showcases her talent in her rather quirky but very wearable designs. Inspired by her grandmother who was a qipao maker, Tao had always made fashion her calling eversince she was a teenager. She trained at Vivienne Westwood and Peter Jensen before coming out on her own to design for women who not only want form and function but also a piece of modern heritage.

Tao’s concept involves fusing vintage shapes with contemporary fabrics with bespoke prints. This gives each piece in her collection a unique take that you won’t find replicated elsewhere. Her designs are all about making you feel young and confident. Bright colours add on even more vibrancy, as evident in her latest Spring/Summer 2015 collection named A Day at the Beach where hues like sunshine yellow, tangerine, cobalt are combined with offbeat prints exclusive to the designer. The collection also relies heavily on the popular stripes where Tao has given a modern interpretation.
