A hot new designer to watch.

Haider Ackermann is a trendsetting designer on the cutting edge of fashion. Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, the Colombian-born French designer first got noticed on the international fashion front when he debuted his eponymous collection in Paris back in 2001.

Since then, Haider has attracted a strong following and has grown his own brand name in the world’s top fashion cities. His collections can be found in upscale stores like Maria Luisa in Paris, Dover Street Market in London, Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and Lane Crawford in Hong Kong.

Haider is known for creating lean silhouettes and deconstructed pieces of clothing that are all about contrasts between street and high fashion. His latest Summer 2011 Collection reflects this signature style with long drapes as well as asymmetrical cuts, pleats and folds. It also features an eclectic composition of materials and structures such as regency stripes in silk and tuxedo satins and heavy biker leather. The collection is bold and expressive, using rich colors like emerald green, ebony, blood red and electric blue.
