Celebrity stylist Celia Wong takes a look at who wore what last week.
Check out who wore what at last week’s major events in Hong Kong, including celebrities Kelly Chen, Kary Ng, Florinda Ho and Jacqueline Ch’ng dressed up for the Magnum grand opening, Mercibeaucoup, b+ab, my melody and a movie premiere.
Celebrity: Florinda Ho
Event: Magmun grand opening
What she wore: Gareth Pugh top, Toga skirt, Alexander McQueen shoes
Celia’s comments: Florinda is the best dress of the week. This outfit standout from a mile away. The metallic tiles top is really neat and it goes well with her short blonde hair. Matching that with a black see-through dress is a good call. That gives the look nice contrast. As sharp as the look is, not much accessory is needed, just one simple bangle will do the trick. Well done!
Celebrity: Kary Ng
Event: Mercibeaucoup , b+ab, my melody event
What she wore: Mercibeaucoup X b+ab X my melody outfit
Celia’s comments: Kary looks like a sweet Japanese girl in this outfit. Love the thick cut of clothes and the oversized accessories on it. It’s refreshing to see her in casual but trendy clothes because we’re so used to seeing her all glammed up. So once in a while, dressing her age reminds us how young and edgy she looks.
Celebrity: Kelly Chen
Event: Movie press event
What she wore: Prabal Gurung dress, Miu Miu shoes, Chanel clutch
Celia’s comments: Kelly’s cute expecting mom look puts her on top of the hottest mommy list in Hong Kong. The short red cocktail dress suits the festive theme of the Chinese New Year movie premiere. It’s a good idea to wear flats with it, too. Not only because she can totally pull it off with her long legs, but it’s also great mix-and-matching to show us a cocktail dress does not necessarily need high heels.
Celebrity: Jacqueline Ch’ng
Event: Magnum grand opening
What she wore: Emilio Pucci dress, Titikaka boots
Celia’s comments: Jacqueline’s outfit is a good example of modern meets classic that works. Love the Victorian corset top. To give it a modern lift, she throws on these to-die-for leather boots. The whole look immediately turns super stylish. One missing detail though is her hair. The long glue-on hair piece looks a bit unnatural.
Event: Shopping mall event
What she wore: unknown
Celia’s comments: It seems everything is going wrong with this look. I have no problem with layers, but if they’re one too many and drape horribly, it’s a sin. The colour of the stocking is also off, it doesn’t complement the look in any possible way.
