Meaning Eagle in French, the functional footwear and outerwear brand AIGLE has a history that goes back to 1853.
Originally under the name Compagnie du Caoutchoue Souple (Flexible Rubber Company), founder Harm Hutchinson had obtained a license for a patented rubber making process which he used to develop Wellington boots and raincoats.
Since the first store opening in Saint-Germain-des-Près, in Paris, the brand’s eco-friendly process now produces 4,000 pairs of handmade AIGLE rubber boots every day.
With a presence of over 130 stores across Europe, Asia, Japan, and the United States, AIGLE has been a part of the Swiss group Maus Frères since the majority ownership purchase of the brand in 2005.
Expanding upon it’s seasonal collection, AIGLE has had a host of collaborations such as a capsule collection with the likes of British designer Nigel Cabourn, graphic artists Alex & Marine, as well as working with fellow French brand Kitsuné, Harris Tweed, and even agnès b.
AIGLE offers a variety of products for men, women and children, across a selection of clothing, outerwear, boots, shoes, bags, hats, and accessories.
