French designer Agnès Troublé, known as Agnès b founded her label in 1973. She started her fashion career as a young editor at ELLE magazine in Paris. After that she worked for several designers, before setting up her first store in a converted butcher’s shop in 1975. There she sold a mixture of work clothes and basics that gave a contemporary twist to the classics. Her designs became popular, particularly her cardigans and striped shirts and her brand’s success can be attributed to this distinct ability to give classics a contemporary feel.
Her passion for cinematography and art lead to many brand extensions including Agnes b. art galleries and an Agnes b. cinema which is located at Hong Kong Arts Centre.
There are now more than 115 boutiques around the world. Her stores offers menswear, womenswear, accessories and bags. There are also several Agnes b. flower stores and cafes in Hong Kong.
