Time To Put on a Chunky Sweater

By Roxanne  /  January 30, 2015

Winter fashion is all about layering, from sweaters to jackets and coats and scarves there are endless possibilities of how to keep the chill at bay. One of the big trend this winter is the chunky sweater !

Its stylish, versatile and weather appropriate, a cozy knit is the easiest way to fend of chilly evenings. Wear with leather pants for a relaxed, rocker look, with suit pants to dress down a formal look, or with a long skirt and fedora hat for a bohemian take on the trend. A transitional piece if ever there was one, a chunky knit can even be worn with city shorts or a mini skirt when the weather gets warmer. Weekend BBQ and office appropriate, you can be sure you will be getting the most out of your sweater all year round! We have scoured the runways and chosen the most on-trend styles for the season so check out out guide and put on that chunky sweater!

Drape It!

Draping was huge on the Fall/Winter runways and is an easy way to incorporate knits into your wardrobe. Cowl-necks, waterfall hems, poncho styles and the ever trendy longer length backs are all hot choices. Choose lighter knits if you intend to layer your look. Remember to keep the rest of your look quite form fitting and strict to avoid looking frumpy. Throw on a leather biker jacket for that cool-girl aesthetic and you’re ready to go.

You cannot go wrong with a bright splash of colour this season, and wearing a bold knit is the chicest way. We love how a colourful sweater can take a drab outfit and turn it into a style moment in one easy step. Keep the rest of your look quite neutral and rather go for interesting fabric choices such as ripped denim, leather and soft cotton that will highlight your bright jersey.

White, beige, nude, blush, grey……there are so many options for this major trend. Neutrals were the hot topic on the runways for Winter 14/15 with everyone from Chloe to Celine and Max Mara showing a lighter colour palette of knits. The best thing about this trend? It never goes out of style. Invest in a quality sweater in tones of beige, grey or white and you can be guaranteed to wear it for many season’s to come, and with just about everything in your wardrobe! We suggest pairing it with a soft pair of harem pants and chic loafers for a chilled weekend look, or alternatively with a leather mini and bright stilettos for a cozy day-to-night outfit.

 Darker Shades

We all love black right? We know we do…. Simple, chic and oh so versatile, a stylish black jersey is the easiest way to stay warm in winter. But don’t just gravitate towards the darkest shade. Deep blue, olive, gunmetal grey and purple are all hot hues to choose for the season. This is definitely a trend where you can go all out in volume. Choose the biggest and boldest sweater you can find, and look out for unique knit’s and quirky design details. Just remember to keep the rest form fitting. Pair with a bright bag for extra style points.
