There’s no denying that winter has officially arrived in Hong Kong. And while yes, it may be considerably milder than the snowy wonderlands further north, its still cold enough to make getting up in the morning that much harder. One sure way to beat the chill is by getting one of the key items of the season- a statement coat or jacket.
The Fall/Winter ’13 runways featured an eclectic array of styles that means you are sure to find one that suits your style. Celine, Chloé, Michael Kors and Stella McCartney are some of the designers that had great coats and jackets in their A/W shows. From masculine overcoats and furs to ladylike pea coats in ice-cream colours, this season you are spoilt for choice!
We have put together a selection of the key styles that are on trend, some options of what’s available to buy and where to find them.
The Minimalist Coat look is the easiest to incorporate into your wardrobe. Sleek and sophisticated it is the perfect addition to a working wardrobe but adds a polished edge to your weekend look too. This season, coats are longer and usually goes all the way close to your knees, the collarless look is non-fussy and gives a very clean line that elongates your body. For shorter jackets, look for the asymmetrical cut jackets for an interesting look.
If there’s one colour to pick for minimalist coat, we’ll have to say white because it can be worn with any colour and its super sleek. The other colour we love is dark blue, its a shade deeper than the cobalt blue that was all over the place in summer and much cooler in an understated kind of way.
How to Wear it
Wear it with skinny pants, statement heels and a collared shirt for an effortless take on the trend. Add some leather for an evening look.
