London based designer Karine Assaf makes scarves that are like art masterpieces with bold images and fun colours that will give your wardrobe a point of difference.

Karine is an international citizen of the world, she is originally from Montreal, raised in Beirut and is currently based in London. An engineer by trade and a passionate artist on the side, Karine started to exploration her creative side at the early age of 5. Her passion for painting eventually lead to the launch of her own brand of silk scarves in 2016 and hence Karine Assaf, the designer was born.Karine Assaf_butterboom_1A Feminist at Heart Scarf, 70x 70cm, HK$1050

Take a look at each piece closely and you’ll see the fun side of Karine who uses her scarves as art canvases.  Karine paints personal portraits of the world we live in with her scarves which shows snippets of everyday life and her travels. You can see Karine’s artistic influences of Japanese modern art with historical painting techniques used by ancient masters like Da Vinci and Botticelli through her work.Karine Assaf_Butterboom_2A Pizza of my Heart Scarf, 70 x 70cm, HK$1050

What’s interesting about Karine’s scarves also are that they are made with paint from the combination of wasted fruits, vegetables and organic earth pigments.  There’s a combination of social, cultural and environmental messages with her scarves – talk about sending a message through fashion!

We love how many ways you can wear Karine’s scarves; wear it as a silk top, wrap a turban on your head or as a belt for completely unique looks that’s super stylish. Aside from silk scarves, her collection also features twill bands that you can wear as wrist and ankle bands, as a headscarf and to accessorise your bag.

Butterboom will be bringing Karine Assaf scarves over to Hong Kong in November at our pop-up store so you can browse the selection online now and pick up at the pop-up store in Central from 18 – 22 November 2017.
